Welcome to The Sports Centre Skating School
Ice Skating is a great way to stay physically fit and have fun. The Sports Centre Skating School offers plenty of opportunities to get involved in skating. We offer group lessons, open freestyle ice time for practice/private lessons and off ice classes.
Basic Skills Skating Classes
"Basic Skills" is the term used for all group skating lessons at The Sports Centre, run by the Skating School. We offer classes for all skill levels, ages 3 years through adult. In the Basic Skills skating lessons, skaters will learn balance, agility, turning, stopping, confidence and other fundamental skills that will prepare our future figure skaters and hockey players. All of our skating classes follow the curriculum of the United States Figure Skating Association's (USFSA) Basic Skills program and are taught by USFSA accredited professionals.
The Sports Centre Skating School currently runs the following group classes: Tots (Snowplow Sam 1-3 levels only), Basic Skills (Snowplow Sam 1-3, Basic Skills 1-8 levels & Adult 1-4 levels), Adult (Adult 1-4 levels) and Badge Elite (Freestyle 1-6 levels).

Advanced Figure Skating
"Advanced Figure Skating" is the term used for all open freestyle ice times, training classes and off ice classes run by The Sports Centre Skating School for figure skaters. Although most skaters who utilize open freestyle and training classes are beyond our Basic 8 level, everyone is welcome. Open Freestyles are open to all figure skaters regardless of club affiliation.
